FastEx Globex International: Overseas Courier & Customs Guide
A plain guide to sending parcels abroad with FastEx Globex: the papers you need, how international tracking works and what to expect at customs.
What Is FastEx Globex?
FastEx Globex is FastEx’s international air courier service. It sends documents and parcels to many countries, including the United Kingdom, the United States, the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Europe. Domestic FastEx delivers to doors within Pakistan; Globex is for parcels going abroad.
Sending a parcel abroad has more steps than sending one within Pakistan. It travels to the airport, is checked before export, flies to the other country, goes through customs there and is then delivered by a courier in that country.
How International Tracking Usually Works
The main steps you may see while an overseas parcel is on its way.
Booking and Sending
After you book at a FastEx Express Center, the parcel is weighed, scanned and sent on towards its international flight. We could not confirm which airports FastEx uses.
Export Checks and Customs
Before it leaves Pakistan, the parcel goes through security and export checks.
The Flight
The parcel is flown to the destination country. It may pass through other airports on the way, and tracking shows it as in transit.
Customs and Delivery Abroad
When it lands, customs in that country check the invoice and work out any duty or tax. Once cleared, a local courier delivers it to the address.
Papers You Need to Book
To avoid customs delays, bring the right papers when you book a Globex parcel at a FastEx Express Center:
- Commercial Invoice or Packing Declaration: FastEx asks for four signed copies of the commercial invoice or packing declaration. List each item, what it is made of, how many there are and its value.
- Your ID: You must verify your identity in person with your original CNIC or passport.
- Receiver details: The receiver’s full name, full address (building, flat number and street), postcode and a phone number in the destination country.
- Safe contents: Confirm that the parcel contains no dangerous, flammable or banned items. FastEx publishes its list of prohibited items in its terms and conditions.
Insurance, Price, Customs and Taxes
Transit insurance is required for goods worth more than PKR 100,000. It costs 2% of the invoice value. The freight price is based on the higher of the real weight and the size weight (length x width x height in cm, divided by 5,000).
Customs duty and taxes are set by the destination country, not by FastEx. Keep these points in mind:
- Set abroad: Each country’s customs decides its own duties and taxes on arrival.
- Who pays: We could not confirm who pays duties for every Globex parcel. In many countries the receiver pays on arrival. Ask FastEx when you book.
- True value: Never declare a lower value than the real one. Customs can hold the parcel or charge a fine if the value is wrong.
How to Pack for International Air Travel
Parcels sent abroad are handled many times at airports, so pack them well:
- Use strong double-wall cardboard boxes, not thin shop boxes.
- Wrap each item separately in bubble wrap or foam.
- Fill any empty space in the box with crumpled paper so nothing moves.
- Seal every seam with strong packing tape in an “H” shape.
- Put a copy of the invoice and the receiver’s address inside the box before you seal it.
